Ad Shaper Professional Service Program

A revolution is poised to hit the search industry and it will create significant new revenue for web sites and web-oriented entrepreneurs.

The Ad Shaper Professional Service Program will debut this September from a company called Ad Shapers, Inc. (“ASI”). Ad Shapers, Inc. has licensed the Vortaloptics search technology for this innovative program. We are introducing it to Vortaloptics customers and fans now because we want to hear from you about it and how we can make this program work best for you.

Web site operators typically spend money in marketing programs or with search optimization consultants to build increasing levels of traffic to their sites so they can expose sales or conversion opportunities to their visitors. Pay-for-performance programs offer creative opportunities to pay or be paid by the click.

The Ad Shaper Program takes an innovative and more direct approach to generating revenue – a web site with a search function can profit from every search conducted on its site.

Here’s how it works:

An Ad Shaper is a person or organization owns the Vortaloptics Search Solution (“VSS”) and installs it on a third-party web site in order to manage and sell search results for specific keywords on that site as advertising.

The Ad Shaper offers the VSS to the web site at no cost, and the web site enables the VSS to be installed to power its Search feature.

The Ad Shaper sells as many or as few search results for each keyword as he desires, and for as many or as few keywords as he desires. The Ad Shaper manages the content and positioning of the results.

The VSS is the key because it provides the ability to include, position, and/or exclude specific search results for specific keywords. This control provides the Ad Shaper and web site the guaranteed results promised to the advertiser.

The control provided by the VSS also has a huge impact on visitor satisfaction because visitors who use the site’s search feature now get results that match their requests.

The Ad Shaper owns the VSS and does the work of selling and managing the results, so the Ad Shaper retains a majority of the revenue. The web site provides the location and audience for the search, and therefore keeps a share of the revenue.

Do the Math

The model is simple: a web site desires to make money from search and provides the Ad Shaper a place on the site. An Ad Shaper desires to make money from search by using the VSS and providing a managed professional service to the web site. The web site and Ad Shaper share the revenues generated by selling search results as advertising.

So what kind of money are we talking about? Here are the costs and revenues for one situation.

The Ad Shaper buys the VSS through ASI for $10,000. Because the VSS is run from the ASI data center and utilizes the bandwidth and services of the data center, the Ad Shaper also signs a Service Level Agreement (“SLA”) to pay a monthly fee based on the amount of data processed through the VSS (approximately 10-20% of total fee revenues).

We anticipate search results will be sold as advertising on a flat rate or cost-per-click basis. To understand the revenue of a modest site, we use a model called “filling the grid.” In this model, an Ad Shaper determines 20 keywords and sells 10 links for each keyword at a flat rate of $100 per month. This 20 by 10 by $100 grid equals $20,000 per month. After paying the SLA, the Ad Shaper and web site share the revenues roughly $16,000 per month.
